In Bengaluru, a known criminal involved in robbing travelers on the Bengaluru-Tumakuru highway and other locations was shot in the leg by Dobbaspet police. The individual, identified as Jayanath, also known as Battery Jayantha, is a 26-year-old resident of Alur village in Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district. Earlier incidents involved Jayanath and his associates attacking a truck driver with daggers and robbing him near Billanakote of Nelamangala taluk. Jayanath later snatched an iPhone in Peenya, but was eventually located and fired upon by the police after resisting arrest near Gittigerepalya Cross on the Dobbaspet-Ramanagara highway. He has a significant criminal record, including 51 cases ranging from attempted murder to theft, dating back to his youth. Charges of attempted murder and violating the Arms Act have been filed against Jayanath based on the police inspector's report.
